Case study
TradesPool: a two-sided marketplace, built end to end
Contractors, tradespeople, and homeowners, connected with no middleman fees. Designed, built, and run by Urka since January 2025.
- 1,000+
- verified professionals
- $5M+
- in project value
- 4.8 / 5
- from completed jobs
- 20+
- cities served
As published on tradespool.ca.
The problem
Contractors need trusted workers nearby, fast. The platforms meant to help charged per lead, locked people into contracts, and took commissions.
The goal: make finding work, or help, instant and fair.
What we built

The Pool
A live map of nearby professionals and open jobs, filtered by trade, distance, rating, and rate.

Plan ahead
Contractors search by location before a job starts, find available people in that city, and line up crews in advance.
“I used to spend so much on hotels and travel to bring my crew. Now I just find local help wherever the job is.”

Direct chat, honest reviews
Both sides talk directly, with no fees. Reviews come only from finished jobs.
“Contractors can see when I’m available — no more endless phone calls.”

Feed and homeowner tasks
A feed where tradespeople show their work and build a reputation, and free task posting for homeowners.
How it holds up
- Infrastructure
- Serverless on AWS and Vercel. Scales with traffic, low idle cost. Real-time chat that auto-scales.
- Security
- API access restricted to the official app. Encrypted in transit and at rest. Token auth, regular audits.
- Delivery
- Automated tests on every change. Automated deployments with rollback. Continuous monitoring.
We bring the same discipline to every project.
